Nestled on the outskirts of Nottingham is Harrington Mills – the home of AMX Design. Renowned for their high-quality leather furniture and contemporary collections, AMX’s Midlands showroom is a key asset for unveilings and curious shoppers, attracting visitors from across the UK. Embarking on a showroom renovation required flooring that would both withstand the impact of constantly reshuffling hard-edged furniture, and look in keeping with designs and colour schemes for years to come. This led to the specification of our Design Works, Popular LVT flooring – a luxury vinyl tile plank solution with soft tones and hard-wearing credentials.
A new look
The AMX Design showroom in Harrington Mills displays all the finest furniture the company has to offer. Whether looking for inspiration or trying to gauge the look and feel of a new sofa, the welcoming nature of the showroom is essential to enhance the customers’ experience. Prior to the renovation, the majority of flooring in the showroom was made up of Sisal – a carpet made from natural fibres. The flooring contractor AJ Floorcraft reflected that the moving of furniture within the showroom had caused some rucking and joint damage, as the flooring material had aged. As there was also an ongoing effort to refurbish the showroom’s entirety ready for the launch of a new range, this called for a flooring solution which was able to withstand years of intense wear, whilst also looking at home with high-end furniture in all manner of styles.
Laying a base for excellence
Fitting the bill for both durability and modern, versatile design was JHS Flooring’s 1412 Popular LVT – this Design Works Luxury Vinyl Tile boasts a medium grain finish with warm visual hues, mixing neutral design with a comforting feel. LVT is a luxury vinyl tile solution, ideal for keeping clean and resisting scratches and scuffs over time. According to AJ Floorcraft, who have over 30 years’ experience in commercial flooring installation: “We have fitted numerous LVT floors over the years – the Design Works range is a good quality product and easy to work with. It is also competitively priced and has a very attractive colour bank, making it ideal for this project.”.
Fitting the 410m2 of Design Works, Popular, required the flooring installers to strip the whole showroom floor, de-nail, supply and install 6mm plyboard, feather finish the joins and install the Design Works LVT flooring. With a 15-year Heavy Commercial Wear warranty, and a design to either fit in or stand out, this is a product AMX Design can rely on for many years to come.
Product Specifics
Design Works, Popular, LVT is a versatile product appropriate for various projects; in addition to its established scratch and scuff resistance, it also helps with reducing VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) – the chemicals which can lead to irritation or ill-health in certain circumstances with repeated exposure. Having a product that achieves low emissions of VOCs means that those inside benefit from improved internal air quality – keeping staff healthier and visitors comfortable. Additionally, being intentionally designed to prevent the growth of bacteria, mould and viruses means routine cleaning can be simpler, and keeps the flooring looking its best for longer.
Another consideration in the product recommendation stage was how this variation of Design Works LVT would complement rugs and mats on display, as a shade or finish too strong could detract from collections on show. This design’s authentic swirling grain with soft colouring made it a perfect fit.
