What is recycled fibre carpet tile – and is it right for you?
Are recycled fibre carpet tiles a good choice for commercial spaces? Get an understanding of how they can be used to easily fit spaces, meet commercial building standards, and lessen the impact on the environment.
Carpet tiles are well known for being durable, easy to fit and easily customisable. As more commercial buildings need to meet a growing number of targets – especially carbon and Net Zero goals – could recycled carpet tiles be a good fit?
What is recycled carpet fabric?
Our Colour Foundation Collection Tile range is made from 100% ECONYL® – a nylon that is made from 64% overall recycled yarn. It also has a secondary backing of post-industrial recycled yarn. Made from post-consumer waste – including abandoned fishing nets, carpets, and rigid textiles – ECONYL® has the same look, strength and durability of brand new nylon, but is made with existing materials.
Is recycled carpet good for commercial use?
Our Colour Foundation Collection Tile is durable and hard-wearing, and it maintains its strength over time. The ECONYL® recovered nylon is recycled right back to its original purity – meaning it is exactly the same as brand new, virgin nylon.
Our Colour Foundation Collection Tile range is Bfl-S1Fire Safe and rated Class 33 Heavy Commercial – making it perfect for offices and workplaces.
Available in 15 colours – from accent colours to neutrals that go with anything, Colour Foundation Collection Tile is the perfect choice for commercial spaces.
Are recycled carpet tiles durable?
Colour Foundation Collection is specifically tested for heavy commercial wear – making it ideal for the busiest of spaces.
Its Bitumen backing provides excellent durability and stability, making sure the carpet stays firmly in place and doesn’t slip.
Additionally, Colour Foundation Collection is produced using solution dyed nylon, with a colour fastness score over 7. With strong and durable ECONYL® nylon fibres, Colour Foundation Collection makes for an excellent, long-wearing solution for a wide range of commercial environments.
Are carpets made with recycled fibres sustainable?
ECONYL® nylon is made with a more circular approach – recovering abandoned fishing nets, carpets and other materials to recycle the nylon back to its original purity to then use in fabrics.
Choosing a carpet made with ECONYL® means that the fibres used to create the carpet are better for the environment than choosing a completely virgin nylon. For those who need to consider environmental impact in specifying, choosing a carpet made with ECONYL is a great choice.
How to fit recycled carpet tiles
Carpet tiles are easy to fit owing to their convenient size. They can be easily fit and cut around fixtures – making them ideal for commercial environments and difficult to fit areas like stairs.
